University of Electronic Science and Technology is Sincerely Recruiting Post-doctoral Researchers Abroad


Program Introduction

The Postdoctoral International Exchange Program is targeted at excellent young scientists (Chinese and foreign nationals) holding a PhD degree (obtained outside of China) pursuing postdoctoral research in a Chinese university/institution. The selected candidates would be co-funded for two years, by the Office of China Postdoc Council (OCPC) and the host institution. 500 postdoctoral fellows shall be supported in this program in 2021.



Eligibility

1.The applicants shall be under 35 years old.
2.The applicants shall be Chinese or foreign nationals, who have obtained a doctoral degree within the recent three years outside of China. The applicants shall have obtained their doctoral degrees from a university in the Global Top 100 University List; or the research discipline in the department/faculty for PhD degree is ranked in the Top 100 discipline list (based on the latest Shanghai Ranking's Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education World University Ranking, QS World University Ranking and U.S.News & World Report). The requirement for university or discipline ranking are not necessary for European or Chinese applicants with a PhD degree from Germany (Sino-German Postdoctoral Exchange Fellowship Program). The Prerequisites for this is they must be supported by Helmholtz Association with by a formal recommendation. For applicants from countries located along the“One Belt and One Road”region, they shall have graduated with doctoral degrees from the top 3 universities of their countries. The successful applicants shall conduct research activities for at least 20 months in China for the two-year postdoctoral program.
3.The application shall be innovative with outstanding research capability.
4.Applicants shall be proficient in listening, speaking, reading and writing of Chinese or English.
5.Applicants who are currently under full-time employment in China are not eligible for this program; all the funded researchers shall conduct full-time postdoctoral studies during the two-year project.
6.
The applicants shall have not yet been supported by any other OCPC international postdoctoral fellow program or postdoctoral innovative talents supporting program.
7.In line with the above conditions, postdoctoral researchers who have been in station for less than 6 months can apply for this project before the submission deadline for each batch.



Remuneration

1.The successful applicants will be funded for 2 years with an annual income of at least 400,000 RMB. 200,000 RMB from the national funding, 150,000 RMB from the hosting Chinese university/institution and at least 50,000 RMB from the scientific research team.
2.The selected applicants will be provided with dedicated apartments (free of rent, subsidized by UESTC).
3.The applicants enjoy the university’s achievement bonus scheme during the 2 years.
4.The postdoctoral researchers will be given priority when applying for faculty position at UESTC after the 2 years.



Application procedures

The application procedures include personal application, review by the university and final review and approval from OCPC.
1.Personal application
Please log into the Chinese postdoctoral website http://www.chinapostdoctor.org.cn/auth/login.html between 1 Feb to 30 Sep 2021 and register under the International Exchange Program. Fill up the application form and upload supporting documents (For assistance, please mail to ben_becker@uestc.edu.cn). Note: All the application materials should not contain any confidential information.
2.Review by the university UESTC will first collate, review the application materials and then submit to China Postdoctoral Science Foundation in batches. 
3.Selection
 1) Direct funding
The direct funding scheme supports 150 individuals (100 young Chinese received PhD degrees abroad and not yet returned to China by the time of application, 50 foreign nationals with PhD degrees) who have obtained their doctoral degrees from the world’s top 30 universities (listed in the application system). These applicants will be selected based on a “Personal application, University/Institution recommendation, First-come-first-serve, direct funding” scheme. No more direct funding once the quota is used up.
 2) Expert Review
For applicants who are not directly funded but have met the application requirements, the OCPC and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation will organiz expert review in two batches (the first batch is due on April 15, and the second batch is due on September 30).



Announcement of application results

The results will be announced in May and October respectively.
